Summer Season Board: Red Admiral

Well, we were going to learn about Painted Lady butterflies first, but then a Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) landed on our deck and hung out with us for a while. I only identified it later from photos I took, so it was nice to revisit it and teach the girls its name.

I was afraid the details on the butterfly would be too small to come through using the paint + tissue paper technique, but it turned out pretty good! I also learned that I need to buy some black tissue paper since a ton of butterflies have large black areas.

The girls decided the butterflies needed to be hung up near the clover, of course 🥰
