Summer Season Board: Painted Lady

The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) is a very common butterfly around us and we have seen many throughout the summer. And it's probably the most complicated butterfly we'll do, but they both did really well! I just cut up the tissue paper into much smaller squares and fortunately had tan.

The next time we color something with this complicated of a pattern, I think I'll be breaking out the markers since the crayons are simply too big to color small things - especially when a young child/toddler is using them.

Fun fact: The painted lady is the most widespread butterfly species and is found on every continent except Antarctica and South America.
