Summer Season Board: Mantis
Almost every year we have mantises hatch on our deck so we get to see lots of babies and a few big ones. They are always fun to watch move around and hunt. It’s very exciting to catch a big one and be able to show it to the girls. And, although they might look scary, they are harmless to us.
To make the wings I:
1. Traced the wing shape onto tan tissue paper.
2. Accordion fold the tissue paper and cut out the wing shape being sure to NOT completely cut off the folds.
3. Glue the tissue paper side with tracing to green construction paper and then glue the front edge of the accordion together so it's like a fan.
4. Cut out and unfold the wing while it dries to unstick any tissue paper.
5. Once dry, glue to mantis!
Claire had a fun time drawing a little environment for the mantis and Nora loved playing with the wing 😊.
