Magnetic, Clothespin Art Hangers

We visited the grandparents who live out of town, and I wanted the girls to make them something since they don't get to see them that often. It's easy for Claire to draw pictures now, but Nora isn't quite there yet. So, I had the girls make these fun art hangers for the fridge.

You'll need some clothespins, magnets (I used neodymium ones), paints, and decorations of your choice.

Step 1: Paint the clothespins. I used Crayola paint since it's thick and covers wood easily.

Step 2: Coat with a clearcoat and let dry. I used sprayable lacquer and one coat was fine. This was to make sure the paint won't rub off, especially since it's washable paint.

Step 3: Wrap the handle of the clothespin with painter's tape. This is to prevent kids from putting decorations there. With the clearcoat, there's no risk of removing paint.

Step 4: Decorate! Use whatever you have or whatever you think sounds fun: beads, string, pom-poms, buttons, glitter, stickers, whatever!

Step 5: Glue the magnets. I put three 7 mm neodymium magnets on each clothespin using gorilla glue. The glue held really well and the three STRONG magnets should hold whatever the girls make without worrying about it slipping down the fridge.

And that's it! The grandparents loved them and the girls also provided some fun new art they could immediately hang. ๐Ÿ˜Š I would love to see your creations if you decide to make these!
